Okay, so you’re probably thinking that Clay Lemon is a bit of a random name for a food blog. The truth is, I like random, and I love my clay lemon. Yes, I in fact have my very own clay lemon. For some reason, odd as it may be, it inspires me when I cook. I think it has something to do with its rustic nature and thoughtful imperfections…kind of like my cooking.

Remember the good old days, when the milkman delivered fresh milk to your doorstep, and a trip to get groceries with your mom included stopping at the bakery and butcher shop?
Oh how a girl yearns for a good salad. Or this girl anyway.
I spent some time in Chile this summer and with my extremely limited Spanish vocabulary, not to mention the fact that I am a vegetarian (most days), I thought I would play it safe early on in our trip and order a salad for lunch.
I am a foodie at heart and have been for as long as I can remember. I have fond memories of dining out with my family as a child and insisting on ordering the most obscure menu item offered. It was worth the risk of not liking it, just to say that I had tried it.
Of course I was too shy to actually order the dish itself and risk mispronouncing the name; however, my parents were all too happy to step in and tease me profusely about it later.
