Smitten with the “milkman”

Remember the good old days, when the milkman delivered fresh milk to your doorstep, and a trip to get groceries with your mom included stopping at the bakery and butcher shop?

I’ve heard of this so-called milkman, but I am afraid he was long gone when I was a kid. If he did exist, he certainly didn’t venture out to the small northern town I grew up in.

I can now happily say that I have my very own  “milkman” and he even delivers almond, soy and rice milk!

My family recently signed up for SPUD (Sustainable Produce Urban Delivery) and we are smitten with the lovely people who do our grocery shopping for us and deliver them right to our door step.

Wednesday’s have become my new favorite day of the week. It’s like Christmas around my house, when the door bell rings and bins full of organic groceries appear at our door step.

As much as I enjoy making a day of grocery shopping by going to the farmer’s market and leisurely wandering down the aisles, I don’t always have time for that.

SPUD has given me much more than groceries once a week. It has given me a glimpse of a simpler time, when the milkman really did exist.
